Thu, 10 Sep 2009

Residential mortgage brokers have been told to be wary of recommending their clients to commercial mortgage brokers, as reports of fraud circulate.

The National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB) Has revealed that many customers are coming away having lost thousands of pounds and received no service.

Chief executive of NACFB, Adam Tyler, said: "There are cases on my desk where a residential mortgage adviser has, in good faith, introduced several cases to one of these 'brokers' and lost their clients tens of thousands of pounds."

A poll recently conducted by Legal and General showed a drop in the optimism of mortgage advisers as a whole since the beginning of the year. The poll shows 49% of respondents believe business will improve in the next quarter, down from 62% in the first quarter.
