Future Mortgage Approvals Could Drop
Friday 31st July 2009
This is the sentiment put forward by Andy Pratt of Alexander Hall Mortgage Brokers. Whilst many have been paying great attention to the steady increase in mortgage lending the Bank of England has been reporting and hoping they continue, Andy fears there could also be some drops.
Andy claims that the volatility we have seen in the market of late could cause the trend to be bucked. Sighting the increases in lending being proportionally very small, it would take little change in market conditions to turn and increase into a decrease, although he sees the trend as staying positive.
The building Societies Association have released mortgage lending figures for June showing a rise to £1.97 Billion, the highest figure for 2009.
